for Children in Crisis
Donate to help us reach children and families in Gaza
Over half a million people in Gaza are at risk. The ceasefire brings renewed hope to children and families, but the nightmare is far from over. Much of Gaza is now rubble, and families are still facing restrictions to access aid. Aid must flow freely into Gaza.
Every child under 5 in Gaza is malnourished, with more than 55,000 children suffering from acute malnutrition – a condition that didn’t exist in Gaza before this crisis started. Children need life-saving treatment now.
Children and families also need:
- Medicine
- Access to clean water
- Adequate shelter
- Warm clothes and blankets in the cold winter months
We are working tirelessly with our partners to meet the needs of children, but we need your support.
Children must not be left to starve
For months, the aid allowed into Gaza by Israel is barely a trickle of what’s needed and required by international humanitarian law. We must have open access to aid, using every possible entry point, to reach children and families.
Meanwhile, we still face the risk of a sharp rise in child deaths, given that their immune systems are weaker than ever before.
You can help us deliver life-saving therapeutic food for children in Gaza with just £10 a month. That’s enough to supply a week’s worth of therapeutic food for a child, giving them a real chance of survival.
Support our work for children in Gaza with a donation today.
Is aid getting into Gaza?
Essential services have been destroyed. 2.1 million people, including 1 million children, have lost access to shelter, clean water, and healthcare. The situation is critical.
With humanitarian access finally opening up, our three-month response is focused on urgent life-saving support and restoring essential services to help communities begin to rebuild.
Over the next 3 months we are carrying out support in these key areas:
- Nutrition
- Water and Sanitation
- Education
- Child protection
- Winterisation (materials to protect families in the cold months)
- Social protection
To do this, we must ensure full and safe humanitarian access for all supplies and services through all entry points. We need ongoing respect for international humanitarian law, a lasting ceasefire, and urgent funding to deliver at scale — children’s lives depend on it.
Haya Abu Hajer, 9 years old, from Al-Bureij Camp "Now I live in Al-Bureij Camp after we were displaced from Juhr Al-Deek. Every day, I walk a long distance to fetch drinking water. I can’t describe how exhausted I feel carrying the jerrycan all the way home. I wish the sweet water truck could come to our house instead, because I’m just a child and I can’t carry heavy things." Clean water is the right of every child. With our partners, we are supporting the restoration of clean water across 400 distribution points.
How to donate to our appeal for Gaza
One of the best ways to donate to Gaza and the wider State of Palestine is through a monthly direct debit.
A monthly donation enables us to provide continuous support to children when they need it most, through vital food, access to healthcare and a safe space. Children should not have to live in fear of hunger or conflict. Your donation can help protect children in Gaza.
However you choose to donate, you will be helping to make a difference to the lives of children.
How will your Gaza donation be used?
For the first 3 months, your monthly Gaza donation will go towards funding our work to support children in Gaza and the wider State of Palestine. After that, donations will go to support our work around the world. Any Gift Aid claimed on donations made to this appeal will support UNICEF’s work around the world.
In the unlikely event that the funds raised exceed what’s needed for the Gaza emergency appeal, or if funds cannot viably be directed to this appeal, we will direct funds to support our work to help keep children safe and healthy around the world. FAQs
The ceasefire must be reinstated and sustained, all hostages must be released and reunited with their families. In addition, international humanitarian law must be respected, including allowing humanitarian aid into Gaza immediately.
In addition, we are calling for:
- Prioritisation of children both now and in the process of recovery and reconstruction.
- Meaningful responses to the conflict in Gaza must include trauma-informed child-centred services and development.
- Lasting political solution to the crisis, so that children in Palestine and Israel can grow up in peace and free from the shadow of violence.
We are an impartial, non-political humanitarian organisation.
While we continue to report on and advocate for the protection of all children in both Gaza and Israel, our humanitarian response is driven by the need for aid in Palestine.
Before the renewed violence between October 2023 and March 2025, one million children needed humanitarian aid in Gaza and the West Bank. In high-income countries such as Israel, the State usually provides the supplies and services for children that we undertake or support in lower-income countries.
There is a National Committee for UNICEF in Israel – the Israeli Fund for UNICEF – that works to promote and raise awareness of children’s rights in Israel and to raise funds for our work across the world. You can find out more about its work here.
