Support our Ukraine appeal

After more than three years of full-scale war and 11 years of conflict in the east, children in Ukraine are still at risk. Every three-year-old has known nothing but war, with potential lifelong impacts on their wellbeing and development.

In June 2025, there were the highest number of civilian casualties in three years, with at least 232 people killed and 1,343 injured.

The ongoing violence has caused immense suffering, disrupted children’s development, and has damaged communities.

We are working around the clock in Ukraine and neighbouring refugee-hosting countries, providing access to life-saving therapeutic food, health care services, cash transfers and other critical support.

You can help children and families manage the mental impact of the war by donating just £5, which provides 2,500 informational leaflets on key mental health issues like suicide prevention, skills for promoting mental health and wellbeing.

Can I make a one-off donation?

If you prefer to make a single one-off donation, you can select this option on the donation form on this page or over the phone.

What are children facing in Ukraine?

  • The ongoing intensity of war means families are still having to flee their homes and look for safer places. However constant longer-range attacks across the country mean no child is safe.
  • Energy, water networks and other important services continue to come under fire and children living on either side of the frontline are under constant threat of attacks.
  • Pre-schools, primary and secondary schools have been damaged or destroyed by bombing and shelling, disrupting the education of Ukraine’s children, with potentially lifelong consequences.
  • Children with disabilities, children without parental care, children at risk of family separation, and children in institutions remain particularly vulnerable.

How are we supporting children in Ukraine?

Through the kind contributions of our supporters and partners, here are some of the ways we are working with local partners to support children in Ukraine:

  • Access to safe water and sanitation: we are supporting 11 water utilities in six regions, helping secure sustained access to safe water and sanitation for 91,964 people.
  • Developing safe learning environments: we are supporting children to access quality in-person and distance learning by establishing digital libraries, rehabilitating school shelter and providing psychosocial support and training teachers.
  • Mental health support: In July this year, we have provided mental health services to 14,522 children.

We are working closely with our partners in Poland, Moldova, Belarus, Romania, Slovakia, Hungary and Czech Republic, to help provide humanitarian support for children and families fleeing the war.
