How does UNICEF help children living in conflict?

1 in 5 children around the world are growing up in conflict.

Millions of children are caught up in conflicts they did not ask for or create, enduring violence that no child should ever have to face.

Children living in war zones are faced with unimaginable horrors and are often forced to flee their homes to find safety.

The basics of childhood – school, play, health and safety – are lost to bombs and bullets. Children live in fear of being injured or killed every day.

Childhood shouldn’t look like this. No child should have to grow up in fear.

You can help us deliver urgent, life-saving support to children and families affected by conflict. Just £10 a month could help bring three malnourished children back to health over the course of a year.

Your support will fund vital programmes around the world that save lives and help children look forward to a better future. Please donate today.

How are we supporting children affected by conflict?

The number of countries in active armed conflict is at its highest in 30 years. At UNICEF, we are among the first to respond when a child’s right to a safe, healthy and happy childhood is under threat.

Conflict makes it harder to reach children safely. Access can change quickly, supply routes can break down, and delays often mean supplies pile up before they reach families. To add to that, there are increasing attacks on humanitarian workers.

Working alongside our partners, we are supporting children and families in places like Gaza (Palestine), Sudan, Ukraine, Yemen, Lebanon, Myanmar, Haiti, the Democratic Republic of Congo, South Sudan, and beyond.

With your help, we can provide children and their families with access to:

  • Clean water to prevent disease outbreaks that often follow conflict
  • Life-saving nutrition
  • Education and school supplies, including accessibility aids, ensuring children can continue to learn
  • Vaccinations to prevent disease
  • Child protection services, to keep children safe from violence, abuse and exploitation

Donate now to help protect children today. Your support will fund vital programmes around the world that keep children safe wherever their needs are greatest.

Why donate monthly?

As a children’s charity, we work with families, communities and governments in over 190 countries to tackle both the root causes and immediate impacts of the challenges children face.

We respond in moments of crisis, but we also stay for the long term, helping to build safer, healthier futures for children everywhere.

When you set up a regular donation, you become part of that life-changing work in helping protect the world’s most vulnerable children, today and for years to come.
