Five-Day Training Courses

A Baby Friendly course

Home > Training > Baby Friendly Initiative Courses > Five-Day Training Courses

Our five-day training courses cover Breastfeeding and Relationship Building, Train the Trainer, Audit and Achieving Sustainability.

The five-day courses provide healthcare staff and other interested parties with a foundation for supporting optimal care for new mothers, their babies and families, and offer the opportunity to develop a training package. There will be a strong focus on the importance of relationship building, involving parents as true partners in care, and supporting breastmilk use and the transition to breastfeeding.

The five-day courses are delivered over an initial three days, followed by two days and with a gap of two weeks in between.

In addition to the five taught days, participants will receive:

  • Access to the Breastfeeding and Relationship Building pre-course e-learning package
  • The Train the Trainer package of resources
  • The Leadership Training pack
  • The Breastfeeding and Relationship Building and Train the Trainer handbooks

Five-day course offerings

We offer three options for this course depending on the service you are working within:

  • Maternity or Health Visiting Infant Feeding Leads
  • Neonatal Infant Feeding Leads
  • Early Years services staff

This training is ideal for leads who are new in post and have the responsibility for leading (or supporting the lead) to implement the standards in their service as it will cover all four key training areas in a condensed format.

Booking

The price of the five-day course is £1450 per person (2025 price), which provides a cost saving compared to if all four training courses were booked separately.

Accessing the course

Courses are delivered on Microsoft Teams. This course consists of two parts:

  • Part 1: E-learning & pre-course activities and
  • Part 2: Virtually taught days.

As each part of the programme builds on previous content, it is very important for your overall learning experience that you complete all of the elements.

Please note that our services are usually booked up several months in advance and your first preferred date may not always be available.
