The first thing you need to do to get started with your Rights Respecting journey is to register with us online.
It only takes a few minutes, and can be done by your headteacher or the staff member who will act as the RRSA lead within your school.
The Rights Respecting Schools Award is a membership based programme where schools pay via annual direct debit. You will need to know your school’s bank details when filling out the registration form. Once you submit the form, you will receive an Advance Notification Letter and we will take the first payment after the 14-day notice period. Once your direct debit has been set up, you will receive an email with details on how to access your membership benefits.
Read the RRSA Membership Terms and Conditions.

Membership costs
As a registered charity, we rely entirely on voluntary donations to fund our vital work for children and their rights. Therefore, we charge an annual membership fee to enable us to deliver the Rights Respecting Schools programme. This covers everything you need for your Rights Respecting journey including e-learning, training, support from our Professional Advisers, access to online teaching and learning resources and more. You can learn more about what the membership includes here.
Who else can register?
Other interested organisations or individuals can also register with us (for free) and become part of our community. We will keep you up to date with the work of UNICEF UK and our Rights Respecting Schools via newsletters and other communications:
- Staff members in existing Rights Respecting Schools
- Local authorities
- Members of educational organisations or other settings who are interested in children’s rights
