Audit tools

Monitoring progress and improving care

Audit tools enable health professionals to monitor their progress in supporting feeding and relationship building and achieving Baby Friendly accreditation.

Please note: We are currently reviewing the audit tools and plan to make them available freely. Further updates on this will be shared in summer 2024.

These audit tools are available for maternity, health visiting, neonatal and children’s centres services and university programmes. Presented in a straightforward manner, they are easy to use by health professionals who may not have significant experience of auditing.

The files contain all the interview and scoring forms for staff/students and mothers, instructions for using the tools and example slides for presenting the results.

Each tool has been designed so that health professionals/lecturers can monitor their care as they implement the Baby Friendly standards in their facility. The tools will help identify when facilities are ready for Baby Friendly accreditation. And once the award is in place, the tools will help ensure that all the standards are fully maintained.
