We are delighted to receive very positive news about the reach of the work the Unicef UK Baby Friendly Initiative has done during the coronavirus outbreak

A new piece of research from the US has been published looking at the reach of information related to infant feeding during the coronavirus crisis. Figure 1. Breastfeeding and COVID-19” overall social network on Twitter (page 8) shows that Unicef UK are second only to the World Health Organization in the production and sharing of credible evidence-based information via social media. The study concludes:

In these difficult times when anecdotal health recommendations and misinformation may overwhelm the healthcare system and cause large numbers of preventable illness and death, it is heartening to learn that there is evidence of the flow of accurate information that supports the health of mothers and infants
