Progressing Baby Friendly: Success and Sustainability

This one-day course aims to build confidence, knowledge and the practical tools needed to successfully implement and sustain the Baby Friendly standards, while continuing to progress long-term change and improved care and outcomes for families

Progressing Baby Friendly: Success and Sustainability is a one-day online course for those leading on the implementation of Baby Friendly within their service or university. 

The course will focus on the Achieving Sustainability standard themes: leadership, culture, monitoring and progression. These are all needed to sustain the core Baby Friendly standards, evidence impact and improve support for breastfeeding, infant feeding and close and loving parent-infant relationships.  

Participants will explore practical approaches to change management, compassionate culture, audit, root cause analysis and quality improvement, leaving with ideas they can apply within their own service, university or wider organisation.  

Please note the Achieving Sustainability course will now be replaced with this new course. 

Who is this course for?

This course is suitable for participants at any stage of their Baby Friendly journey – for those beginning the journey to accreditation and wanting to build a strong foundation, through to those preparing for Achieving Sustainability and Gold Award status. Participants from across maternity, neonatal, community, hospital-based children’s services and universities will benefit from learning within a multi-disciplinary group, sharing perspectives from different settings and strengthening whole-system approaches to sustainable change.

This course consists of two parts:

• Part 1: E-learning & pre-course activities and
• Part 2: Two virtually taught days.

As each part of the programme builds on previous content, it is very important for your overall learning experience that you complete all of the elements.
