The World Breastfeeding Trends Initiative (WBTi) UK report, published this week, identifies areas of progress and current gaps in UK infant feeding policies and programmes, including around national strategy, regulations protecting breastfeeding, healthcare professional training and breastfeeding support services.
Findings reiterate that now more than ever, action is needed to achieve system-wide change in the UK to create an enabling environment for the prioritisation, protection and support of breastfeeding as a public health priority.
Recommendations urge timely action to ensure all families are given effective and evidence-based information and support so they can achieve their feeding goals.
