The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) is a powerful tool to support school improvement.

Given the impact of the coronavirus on children and young people, we want to help your school place children’s rights at the heart of its response.

We’ve created guidance that focuses on six core rights to inform you planning and delivery when children and young people return to school. Rights are indivisible but by focusing in on these six we hope to simplify a child rights-based approach here and empower your school to put children’s rights at the heart of its response.

For a deeper dive into embedding the Convention into every aspect of a school’s strategic approach take a look our Articles in Action pack.

To support the six core rights here we have also produced Article 12: Pupil Voice and Engagement Guidance, which explores approaches to engaging with children and young people as they return to school.
