Working with Unicef
Why we’re working together
Through the LSEG Foundation, the London Stock Exchange Group and Unicef are working together to help children in emergencies and young people from disadvantaged backgrounds develop the life and business skills they need, so that their future is driven by opportunity, not dictated by circumstance.
Building on an 18 year partnership between Unicef and FTSE Russell, LSEG Foundation appointed Unicef as LSEG’s first global charity partner in 2015 committing funds to support the Zambian Girls 2030 programme and the Children’s Emergency Fund through donations and employee fundraising.
What we’re doing
In 2018 UNICEF provided life-saving support to children in almost 300 emergencies around the world. With continuing financial support from LSEG, we are able to help communities to recover as quickly as possible and prepare them for the future. Unicef’s Childrens Emergency Fund means we can make sure children can continue their education and have access to the services that will give them the chance to not only survive but to thrive.
Moreover, around the world, 67.4 million girl of upper-secondary school age are out of school. With LSEG’s financial support Unicef runs a community investment programme to support adolescents in Zambia. The Zambian Girls 2030: Realising My Potential initiative aims to empower girls to realise their potential, and provide them with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed as professionals, and to improve educational and economic outcomes for Zambian women.
The partnership between LSEG and Unicef is able to help transform the lives of children around the world through donations from the LSEG Foundation and employee fundraising activities. As part of the partnership, Unicef has been providing LSEG with staff engagement opportunities for its employees, continuing to galvanise support for the world’s most vulnerable children through involvement in learning opportunities around the issues of children’s rights protection. LSEG employees have been actively engaged in fundraising iniatives too for Unicef UK, including cycle challenges from Zurich to Milan in 2018, and London to Paris and Water Walk in 2019.
