Baroness Jenkin became a peer in 2011 is recognition of her charity work. She is the chairwoman of both the Conservative Friends of International Development and the Sustainable Resource APPG. She is founder and co-chairwoman of Women2Win, an organisation which aims to encourage more women to become Conservative MPs. Baroness Jenkin has worked for the Prince's Trust in the past and represents the Albert Hall on certain matters. 

As a member of the Lords, she has asked questions recently on AIDS and HIV, Millennium Development Goals, and development both related to health and poverty. In May 2011, she took part in the 'Live below the line' campaign, living on £1 per day for a week. She was elected to the Board of Trustees in February 2013.
