Steven Day has enjoyed over 25 years experience in journalism, communications and brand marketing.He is a partner in Sulis Ventures, a firm which develops, launches and advises consumer-orientated companies. He began his career as a journalist working in magazine publishing before moving to Fleet Street to work for the Daily and Sunday Express. As a reporter, and subsequently an editor, he specialised in business, ending his time there as a Deputy Editor of the Sunday Express. He went on to join the Virgin Group to work on a start-up - Virgin Mobile, which grew to become the world’s most successful virtual network operator. As Corporate Affairs Director on the company’s management team he led the communications and the corporate responsibility teams, as well as investor relations during the company’s listing on the London Stock Exchange.
Steven moved to join the management board of Orange, where he helped the company complete Europe’s biggest-ever mobile merger with T-Mobile. As Chief of Brand & Communications he created and launched the company’s new digital brand, EE, in 2012. It was during his time at Orange and EE that Steven became a supporter of UNICEF, and helped raise several million pounds through various text-message appeals for the emergency relief work of the charity during several global crises.
Steven is a trustee of fly2help, a charity which uses the wonder of flight to inspire and provide respite to disabled, disadvantaged and life-limited children, young adults and their carers.
He has a BA degree in religion and sociology from the University of Surrey. Steven lives in the Wiltshire countryside with his partner Suzanne and their two children. He was elected to the Board of Trustees in June 2014.
