In January 2016 Unicef and Louis Vuitton, one of the world’s leading international fashion brands, formed a five year global partnership to help protect the most vulnerable children around the world. Together they aim to help support children that are exposed to conflict, diseases, natural disasters and other situations that threaten their safety and well-being.
Children are too often at risk during emergencies and humanitarian crises and are especially vulnerable to disease, malnutrition and violence. Through this partnership with Louis Vuitton, funds raised will support Unicef’s efforts to provide the essential interventions to protect, save lives and ensure the right of all children, everywhere.
During 2016, a specially designed product, the Silver Lockit, symbolising protection and care, is available in Louis Vuitton stores worldwide and online. For each sale of the Silver Lockit pendant or bracelet, $200 will be donated to protect children in danger.
Through their customers and employees Louis Vuitton is also building a community of supporters to raise vital funds and awareness to help Unicef continue to transform children’s lives worldwide. They are inviting people to join their promise to help children through the #MAKEAPROMISE campaign by linking pinkies with a loved one – a gesture inspired by children themselves. People are invited to make a donation and share a picture of their “pinky promise” for children on Instagram and Twitter while encouraging friends to #MAKEAPROMISE as well.
