8 December 2021, Outernet London

Stars of stage and screen joined more than 200 special guests at the inaugural Blue Moon Gala, taking place at Outernet, London. The celebration marked 75 years of UNICEF helping millions of children around the world to live, learn and grow and the event raised an astonishing £800,000 to support UNICEF in continuing its work for children around the world.

Hosted by UNICEF UK Ambassador, James Nesbitt, guests were treated to spectacular performances from the iconic 80’s band, Duran Duran and Brit Award winning singer Arlo Parks. Emotive speeches were given by UNICEF UK President, Olivia Colman, UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, David Beckham, UNICEF UK Ambassador, Tom Hiddleston, and UNICEF UK Ambassadors, Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman.

The Blue Moon Gala took place at Outernet London, a new district for culture and entertainment in the heart of London’s West End, and home to the world’s largest LED screens. Attendees were treated to a spectacular immersive display, with a ceiling of sparkling stars, and the themed ‘Blue Moon’ gliding across the walls. UNICEF films and images were shown to guests on the extraordinary screens throughout the evening, highlighting the incredible work that UNICEF has supported since its inception.

UNICEF UK has achieved so much over the past 75 years, supporting millions of children through investment in quality education that has the power to transform their lives, their families, their community, and the lives of their own children. I’m honoured to have attended The Blue Moon Gala this evening to reflect on all that UNICEF has achieved in supporting children’s education, and to raise money to continue that amazing work going forward.
UNICEF UK President, Olivia Colman

For every child in danger

UNICEF works in over 190 countries and territories to save children's lives, to defend their rights, and to help them fulfil their potential, from early childhood through adolescence. And we never give up. The Blue Moon Gala raises money to help combat climate change, and provide vaccines, education, protection and health care for all children – whoever they are, wherever they live.

Playing live at The Blue Moon Gala tonight for UNICEF has been an incredible privilege for me. The venue looked incredible and singing for some of my favourite people in the music industry was a moment I won’t forget. Thank you to everyone who came and supported the event, and I’m overjoyed that so much money was raised for such a brilliant cause.
