Rita Ora surprises 400 children at Unicef event in native Kosovo

KOSOVO, 10 April 2019 – Unicef UK High Profile Supporter Rita Ora today personally surprised more than 400 children and young people in her native Kosovo, when she dropped in to greet the excited and unsuspecting youth groups.

The singer made the surprise visit at the Activate event in the capital Prishtina, UNICEF Kosovo’s annual event which promotes innovative initiatives developed by young people involved in UPSHIFT. The programme provides training, financing and mentorship opportunities to young people to launch their own projects designed to help their communities.

Rita Ora travelled to Kosovo this week in support of the Soccer Aid for Unicef campaign to see how Unicef programmes are improving child health, childhood development and education in marginalised communities.

Earlier in the day, the Kosovo native who left the country aged one, also took part in a youth empowerment session and spent time meeting young people that are being supported by Unicef.

Rita said: “I’m so happy to be back in Kosovo and honoured to be meeting children and families supported by Unicef. This is my first trip with Unicef and seeing how the programmes positively impact the health and development of children drives home how important it is for us all to keep supporting Unicef.

“I can’t wait to tell everyone more about the work I have seen, the people I’ve met and why I’m so proud to be involved in Soccer Aid for Unicef this year.”

Rita’s visit to Kosovo was in support of Soccer Aid for Unicef 2019 and more information will be announced in due course.

Rita has been a supporter, campaigner and advocate of Unicef UK and since 2013.
