The world is not doing enough to protect children from the impacts of the climate crisis. Children are uniquely vulnerable, and their rights and futures are already at risk. The UK has played a significant role in the international response to climate change, including in securing the 2015 Paris Agreement and more recently hosting COP26 in 2021. However, this analysis shows that the UK’s international climate spend has not prioritised children. Only 11% of the UK’s bilateral International Climate Finance over a period of 13 years has been child-focused. And child-focused bilateral ICF has further fallen in recent years.
This report analyses the UK’s record in child-focused international climate finance since 2011, and what the UK Government can do to make its International Climate Finance work for children.
