Paul Oakenfold has composed a new track for Soccer Aid for Unicef

The music will feature on the credits of the television programme

Soccer Aid for Unicef will be broadcast exclusively on ITV

20th April 2018 – Global DJ Paul Oakenfold has composed and donated brand new music that will feature in the credits and celebrity announcements of Soccer Aid for Unicef this year.

The track has already featured on the player reveals made in the last month for Robbie Williams, Usain Bolt, Sir Mo Farah, Olly Murs, Brendan Cole, Gordon Ramsay, Clarence Seedorf, Robert Pirès, Joe Wicks, Mark Wright, Yaya Touré, Michael Owen, Paddy McGuiness, Jaap Stam, Edwin van der Sar, Patrick Kluivert and Kevin Pietersen.

Oakenfold is one of the true legends of electronic music having had a career that has spanned over three decades. He started in the business in the 80s signing and promoting such as Salt-n-Pepa and the Beastie Boys. He went on to hold DJ residencies at the Ministry of Sound and Cream in London plus Amnesia and Pacha in Ibiza.  He has produced the likes of Madonna, U2 and the Happy Mondays.  And he has played out sold-out solo dates to over 30,000 people at the Hollywood Bowl in California.

Says Oakenfold: “I felt privileged to be asked to compose music for the new bigger and better Soccer Aid for Unicef.  I’ve been a supporter of the match over the years and so it’s good to be able to make a contribution to the show itself – if not on the pitch!  I’m hoping to make it on the day to support Robbie’s England and see if they can keep Usain’s Soccer Aid World XI at bay.  Whatever the score, it’s truly a game like no other.”

The match will take place at Old Trafford on Sunday 10th June, just four days before the FIFA World Cup in Russia begins. Tickets are on sale now at www.manutd.com/socceraid and the game will be broadcast live on ITV. Kick-off is scheduled for 20:00 BST.

100% of all public donations to Soccer Aid for Unicef will be doubled by the UK Government, up to a total of £5 million, and go towards supporting the vital work protecting children around the world. So far, £24 million has already been raised through Soccer Aid over the last 12 years.
