Thursday 29 April 2021 – The United Kingdom Committee for UNICEF (UNICEF UK) is pleased to announce the appointment of Shatish Dasani as Chair with immediate effect.

Shatish brings a broad skillset to the charity from over 20 years’ experience in Board and senior leadership roles. He is currently a member of the Board as a Non-Executive Director at three leading public companies, SIG plc, Renew Holdings plc and Speedy Hire plc, and was previously a Non-Executive at Camelot, the national lottery operator, and a Public Member at Network Rail. In his executive career, he was Chief Financial Officer at Forterra plc and TT Electronics plc.

Shatish has a strong international outlook, having lived in four continents and travelled extensively for both business and leisure.

Shatish joined UNICEF UK’s Board of Trustees in June 2020 as Treasurer and has been carrying out the role of Interim Chair for the past seven months.

Shatish Dasani said, “I am delighted to be taking up the role of UNICEF UK Chair on a permanent basis, it’s a tremendous honour and privilege. It’s a cause close to my heart, having seen at first hand the impact of poverty, inadequate health facilities and lack of quality education in certain places in Africa, Asia and South America, and the real difference that UNICEF makes to the lives of children.

“UNICEF UK’s work supporting vulnerable children around the world, and promoting and protecting children’s rights in the UK and internationally has never been more important. I am excited to be part of such a dedicated and passionate team building a world fit for every child.”
