Reunite refugee children with their family - join our campaign.

UNICEF responds to Home Affairs Committee report on Immigration

Responding to today’s report on Immigration by the Home Affairs Committee (LINK), Amy Gibbs, Unicef UK’s Director of Advocacy, said:

“The Government has always been clear it will be part of Dublin III while in Europe; the question that remains unanswered is what happens next.

“There’s no need to wait for leadership from the European Union. A simple change to UK immigration law would end the need for children to make a dangerous journey into Europe before starting the process of family reunification.

“Unicef UK has been calling on the Government to fix the refugee family reunion law for many months. Every day the uncertainty continues around how and when this will happen, more children around the world risk their lives in desperate attempts to reach the safety of their loved ones.”

About Unicef

Unicef is the world’s leading organisation for children, promoting the rights and wellbeing of every child, in everything we do. Together with our partners, we work in 190 countries and territories to translate that commitment into practical action, focusing special effort on reaching the most vulnerable and excluded children, to the benefit of all children, everywhere.

Unicef UK raises funds to protect children in danger, transform their lives and build a safer world for tomorrow’s children. As a registered charity we raise funds through donations from individuals, organisations and companies and we lobby and campaign to keep children safe.
